The driver’s reaction was quick as well; he immediately pulled out a gun from under the seat and skillfully returned fire.

”You damn bitch, see if I don’t kill you today.” Julian was the kind of person who held grudges, and anyone who dared to escape was captured and brutally killed. This time, he had been outsmarted by a pregnant woman, which was an enormous humiliation.

”Bastard.” Julian went to the car’s back seat to find that the person was gone, the door on the other side was open, and he quickly chased after.

”Over there, that way.”

”Stop right there, or I’ll shoot.”

”You damn bitch, you want to die.”

The voices behind her grew closer, and more frightening were the bullets that followed right at her heels. No matter where Sheng Ning ran, Julian kept tenaciously on her trail.

The room was not lit, only faintly outlined by the streetlights outside. Once her lungs felt a bit better, she realized there was a little boy standing in front of her.

And he was very young, maybe only four or five years old.

”My name is Lin En,” the little boy said to her in fluent Mandarin.
