Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2309: Chapter 2245: Raising Baibai to Be Plump and Healthy

When she heard him say he was starving, Aunt Yang’s nose twitched with emotion.

He had been seriously ill and couldn’t eat anything. Even if he was hungry, he would never dare say he was starving, because saying it would only make those around him feel sad, perhaps even sadder than he did.

Especially his wife, who had been fasting alongside him. For so many days, they had been drinking terribly thin porridge. To make him rice soup, she almost drank only rice soup herself.

Last night, they finally managed to have a hearty meal, and both felt a sense of vitality returning to their bodies.

”Alright, alright,” Aunt Yang finished tying her hair and stepped out, ”Let’s go. I can’t wait to eat what Xiao Chiang has cooked again; it must be delicious.”

As they passed next door, they saw Chiang Xiao already bringing out some side dishes and porridge.

The porridge she cooked was certainly not like the rice soup they used to make, so thin it reflected like a mirror; instead, it was just the right consistency.

”Big Master, Aunt Yang, you’ve come over? Did you sleep well last night?”

Chiang Xiao asked as she carefully observed them.

It was clear that their spirits and complexion were much better than yesterday, which put Chiang Xiao at ease.

”Slept wonderfully, never slept so soundly before.”

Aunt Yang couldn’t help but find Chiang Xiao endearing, not just because she miraculously cured her husband, but also because it was their first meeting.

She noticed that Chiang Xiao didn’t really understand their identities; she treated them so warmly just because of Meng Xinian’s interaction with her husband and their little past.

Because she had once shown kindness to Meng Xinian, she treated others well too, showing that she sincerely cared for Meng Xinian and was willing to be grateful on his behalf.

A child who clearly distinguishes love and hate, yet holds kindness in her heart.

Judging from yesterday’s events, she also has her own personality and persistence, not the kind of naive, boundary-less do-gooder, somewhat reminiscent of her former self.

When the Long Family’s girl came to ask her to give up Old Yang, she directly chased them away with a broom.

She only ever lets go when she wants to, no one can force her.

Such a character has caused her plenty of hardships and losses throughout her life, but it’s a pride etched deep within.

That’s why Aunt Yang is so fond of Chiang Xiao.

She can’t help but find her wonderful.

She looks at the dishes and porridge on the table.

Chiang Xiao, a bit embarrassed, said, ”Aunt Yang, my cooking isn’t very good, and I don’t know many dishes, please make do.”

”It’s great, it’s great! Isn’t it perfect to have porridge with these side dishes?”

Old Yang chuckled, ”Your aunt’s cooking is actually quite good; she can prepare three or four tables worth of dishes alone. You should learn from her in the next couple of days.”

”Stop, stop.” Aunt Yang was immediately unhappy upon hearing this, pulled Chiang Xiao aside and said, ”Don’t listen to him. Why do women need to know how to cook so many dishes? Can’t men cook too? Next time Little Meng has some free time, I’ll drag him to learn, and later he can cook for you!”

Chiang Xiao was instantly thrilled, looking over at Meng Xinian.

”I’m just afraid someone won’t want to learn.”

Meng Xinian immediately responded, ”I’ll learn, learn, learn! Aunt Yang, you can teach me later. When Little and I get married, have kids, and she’s doing postpartum recovery, I can take care of her, make her plump and healthy.”
