Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2302: Chapter 2238: Being Able to Eat Is a Blessing

Just now, she didn’t want to give those people the dishes mixed with a lot of Spirit Spring Water, so she put them into the Space. Now when she brought them out, they were still at the previous temperature, not cold at all.

Old Yang and his wife were initially puzzled about why she wasn’t willing to let them have even a few ordinary vegetable dishes, taking in and out like that.

After drinking the soup, their eyes suddenly brightened, and they couldn’t help but exchange a glance.

This soup...

They suddenly understood that this was definitely not the usual tomato egg drop soup they used to make themselves.

Chiang Xiao’s culinary skills must have something unknown to others because this soup was really too fresh and sweet, so fresh and sweet that they couldn’t stop after taking just one sip.

Moreover, once they drank it, their whole bodies felt warm; that feeling was truly wonderful.

Aunt Yang, sipping while looking at her husband, although he had eaten two pieces of mung bean cake earlier, she still couldn’t quite believe that he could actually eat now.

Watching him sip the soup one spoonful at a time, almost finishing a bowl without any sign of nausea, and him savoring it attentively, she truly felt exceptionally content.

When Old Yang finished a bowl of soup, his tense heart finally relaxed.

He didn’t vomit and didn’t feel any discomfort.

Moreover, after drinking it, his stomach, which had been empty and causing him unbearable pain daily, felt warm and very comfortable.

This left them quite astonished.

It seemed he could truly eat food now.

”Brother Xinian, go serve some rice.” Unreservedly, Chiang Xiao directed Meng Xinian, pulling over a small stool to sit beside Aunt Yang, she said, ”I cooked the rice a bit mushy, so you can eat more, Madam. Also, though these dishes are simple vegetables, the taste should still be fine. Today, both of you eat well, and once full, you can have a peaceful sleep tonight.”

Aunt Yang, with tears in her eyes, responded repeatedly, ”Yes, yes, good.”

No one knows how difficult it is for them to have a full meal and a restful sleep.

These days, every night she dared not sleep deeply, partly because hunger made it hard to sleep and partly because she worried if she fell asleep, her husband might pass away unknowingly.

The bitterness of it all, she didn’t know whom to share it with.

Saying it to her daughter-in-law wouldn’t work either, because she couldn’t do anything about it; mentioning it would only make her daughter-in-law worry and lose sleep too. Her son was busy with work, her daughter-in-law had to take care of both families, elders and children, which was also challenging.

The elder wouldn’t bear to burden them.

So she’s been enduring all by herself.

Now, Chiang Xiao suddenly made them feel as if the heavy burden pressing down on them had been lifted by her, leaving them completely at ease.

Yet, this young girl was meeting them for the first time.

They hadn’t even given her a gift for the occasion.

Who could say she isn’t good?

Meng Xinian brought out rice and handed half a bowl of it to Old Yang.

Old Yang held the half bowl of rice, a bit expectant yet somewhat unbelieving, cautiously looked at Chiang Xiao.

”Xiao Chiang, do you think I can eat rice too?”

Previously, he heard Chiang Xiao say that soup alone would suffice, so he thought he still couldn’t eat rice. Now, holding this half bowl of rice, he felt as if he’d won a prize.

He once loved eating rice so much, with a good appetite, he could eat two bowls in one sitting.
