Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1376: Chapter 1377: Discuss Another Matter

Not knowing who her father is has already led to her being ridiculed for so long that it’s practically become second nature.

But if it turns out she has a father with intellectual disabilities, won’t that just add to the mockery?

Not knowing who your father is seems a little better than having one with intellectual disabilities, right?

Besides, it’s not even clear whether that person was born with disabilities or became disabled due to some incident. If it’s congenital, not to mention the Meng Family, even she would worry about the children Little might have in the future...

Could there be a problem with their minds too?

The more Ge Liutao thought about it, the more concerned she became.

Ever since hearing what Old Bai had said, she had truly lost her appetite.

Chiang Songhai shook his head and said, ”It’s no use worrying about it now. Let’s just see how Little deals with it. And don’t talk to her about these things, don’t affect the child.”

”Uncle Hai, Little still has to work hard and prepare for her college entrance exam after she comes back. How about you take the opportunity to persuade her to not search for now, to focus on her studies instead, and think about this after the exam?”

The college entrance exam is a very stressful and significant event for them; they’re now fully concentrated on Chiang Xiao’s preparations for the exam.

Chiang Songhai said, ”You make a good point. After all these years, a few months more won’t make a difference. I’ll talk to her properly when she returns.”

They didn’t know that at this time, Chiang Xiao had made further progress in her search for clues, and it even involved the legendary Sixth Young Master from the Jiang Family.

Chiang Xiao had once shared a little of her thoughts about her biological father with Kuang Yunxian, and now that Meng Xinian had asked, she naturally told him too.

But Meng Xinian didn’t have the same tangled thoughts as Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao.

He directly asked, ”If your biological father is really the person Old Bai mentioned, and he didn’t abandon you on purpose but simply had no idea that he had a daughter in this world, would you find him? Take care of him and acknowledge him? Not minding his intellectual disability?”

Chiang Xiao looked at him, silent for a while, then asked back, ”Do you mind?”

They were going to be husband and wife in the future.

If she were to find a father with intellectual disabilities, he would have a father-in-law with the same condition.

Most men, probably, would mind.

Moreover, Meng Xinian was not just any commoner. With his capabilities, he might hold a high position in the future, and having such a father-in-law would surely affect him to some extent.

Meng Xinian’s lips curled into a smile, and he leaned in, pecking her on the lips.

”Even if you were Sun Wukong, born out of a stone, and you asked me to call a stone ’father-in-law’, I would do it.”

Chiang Xiao: ”...”

What kind of comparison is that?

But this metaphor made her understand Meng Xinian’s thoughts very clearly.

Her eyes warmed.

Meng Xinian pinched her cheek and said, ”I support you in whatever you decide to do, Little. Remember this, no matter what you want to do, I will never be your pressure or obstacle.”

He paused for a moment, then added, ”Except for breaking up or postponing the wedding.”

The first part of his speech moved Chiang Xiao considerably, but the second part left her somewhere between laughing and crying.

How can the topic change so quickly?

She blinked and said, ”Actually, I’m only a freshman at eighteen.”

”Being a freshman doesn’t prevent us from getting married. We can wait until after college graduation to have a baby.” Meng Xinian lifted her up and sat her on his lap, his voice low as he said, ”Now, shouldn’t we formally and carefully discuss another matter?”
