Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1357: Chapter 1358: Staring at Them

”Stop talking. Come on.”

Chiang Xiao looked toward the more desolate mountains and wilderness beyond the barbed wire fence, her gaze heavy.

”Sister-in-law,” Gong Xinhe looked around cautiously and lowered his voice, ”You go first. We’re already preparing. By tomorrow night at the latest, we need to sneak across the border.”

”Why didn’t you all cross earlier?” Chiang Xiao glanced at him, somewhat puzzled.

Gong Xinhe’s expression was serious as he said, ”The relations between the two countries are in a sensitive period right now. The neighboring military is always on guard against us. They patrol this area from time to time just to keep an eye on us. We’ve just discovered this breakthrough point. For the past three days, Officer Wei has been negotiating with them, but their stance is they’ve already sent a platoon to search. They also claimed that if they can’t find it, our crossing would be pointless.”

”Bullshit.” Chiang Xiao swore angrily.

”Sister-in-law, if possible, leave some sort of mark as you go, and we will follow. I believe you can find Officer Wei and the others!”

”I understand. I’ll use the methods Officer Wei taught me to leave marks. Be careful when you follow.”

”Understood. Sister-in-law, come on!” Gong Xinhe took a horse-stance, palms up, ready to assist Chiang Xiao.

Chiang Xiao rushed forward, stepping on his hands. Gong Xinhe gave a strong boost and she vaulted gracefully over, using a roll on the ground to ease her momentum.

”Sister-in-law, the enemy patrol is coming, hide quickly!”

Gong Xinhe suddenly shouted with urgency.

He wanted to curse!

How did they patrol here? It was obvious, they were guarding against them!

Immediately after Gong Xinhe spoke, he searched for Chiang Xiao’s figure. But upon looking, he was stunned. Where was Chiang Xiao on the other side of the fence?

He looked around worriedly again, true enough, he couldn’t find her.

Gong Xinhe’s heart was relieved by half.

Watching the approaching vehicles, he took a long look and then turned and ran away.

They also had to hurry and prepare. By tomorrow night at the latest, they had to make the crossing. Others might think Officer Wei and his team, missing for seven days, had slim chances, but those who had been with Meng Xinian for a longer time firmly believed Meng Xinian wouldn’t succumb to trouble so easily!

Chiang Xiao had already hidden behind a rock when she heard the sound of the car and instantly slipped into the Space. She saw Gong Xinhe leaving and watched the enemy Jeep drive by, its team members aiming their guns in her direction.

Their faces were cold, their eyes scanning the area.

Chiang Xiao didn’t know how sensitive the relationship with the other side was, but at this time, the G Family was not as powerful as it would later become. It had only been a few years since the turmoil, and their internal conflicts and chaos were still being slowly addressed. Their foreign policy stance couldn’t yet be as confident and strong as it would be later.

Now was a period of exploring diplomacy, with many issues to consider.

But she also knew that the G Family would rise in power, and if they faced such a situation in the future, they could take a much stronger stance.

Once those people left, Chiang Xiao immediately came out of the Space, surveyed her surroundings, took out a simple map Yang Zhiqi had given her, checked it, and quickly selected a direction to run off in.

This map had been faxed back by Meng Xinian, who had requested this operation, and it had his markings on it.

Theoretically, he should have returned within the planned time frame regardless of the outcome.

But he hadn’t returned.

Chiang Xiao ran for an hour and encountered two patrols of the neighboring military.

She simply entered the Space to avoid them.
