Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 128: Chapter 128: That Child Is Not Simple

No one could control Meng Xinian at the time, if it hadn’t been for his order over the phone to have the task force send him back to the Capital by force, Meng Xinian would still be tormenting himself.

However, he didn’t know whether to be angry or to be amused; Meng Xinian was so injured, yet he managed to beat up the young men from the Gao Family and the Fong Family until they were black and blue.

Should one say that Meng Xinian was too fierce, or that those two were just too incompetent?

When Jiang Yingqiong heard about Meng Xinian’s injury, she was shocked and distressed yet relieved, ”We owe a lot to Xinian this time, but how could he still go and fight with Gao Wei and Fong Jianye after getting so seriously injured?”

”Those damned kids are useless!” Li Hanzhong’s face also turned ugly as he spoke, ”They were in the reconnaissance unit, and this time they were fooled by the enemy’s smoke bomb. The information they received was vastly different from the actual situation, almost ruining everything.”

They nearly cost Jiang Yingqiong and Chu Liang their lives.

The task was not supposed to involve Gao Wei and others in the first place, but the people from the compound intervened and forcefully included them in this mission.

If the mission had been carried out successfully, they would have gotten the credit easily and added a layer of gloss to their names.

How could Li Hanzhong not understand their wishful thinking?

Even though they had pushed their men into the unit, they were placed in a reconnaissance detachment that wasn’t in much danger. The actual frontline tough and real fighting against the criminals was still up to the Buddy Meng and his team.

Especially the Gao Family, as they had done such things before.

It just so happened that this time they encountered Buddy Meng, who doesn’t show any favoritism to the Gao Family or the Fong Family. Being unyielding and heart-hearted since he was young, how could he tolerate them?

If it wasn’t for their wrong intelligence, this mission wouldn’t have been so passive and difficult, and Meng Xinian might not have been injured.

Jiang Yingqiong listened with a pounding heart.

”The Gao Family and the Fong Family might not admit their mistakes.”

Not only would they not admit their wrongdoing, but they were likely to hold a grudge against Meng Xinian in secret.

Li Hanzhong snorted, ”I will take care of this.” Of course, he wouldn’t let Buddy Meng suffer. The Gao Family had set many traps for him over the years. Did they really think that kid had no one to protect him?

”You need to take extra care of Xinian, it’s been tough for that kid these years. As for that young lady, I’ll go and talk to her personally tomorrow.”

”Alright, his ward is just downstairs, but, that kid might not tell the truth.”

Li Hanzhong looked at his wife and recalled what the doctor had told him earlier. After a moment of contemplation, he asked, ”Yingqiong, back at Chu Liang’s House, when someone was feeding you medicine and dressing your wounds, did you really have no idea what was happening?”

Jiang Yingqiong gently touched the gauze on her forehead and appeared bewildered, ”I really didn’t know.”

Li Hanzhong said, ”Alright, it’s nothing. When the family comes over later, don’t talk too much about it. I’ll go check on that kid again.”

In another ward downstairs.

Meng Xinian, who had been asleep, immediately opened his eyes the moment the door was softly pushed open.

”You kid, rest well when it’s time to rest! Could there be any danger in our own hospital?” Li Hanzhong couldn’t help but scold softly.

Meng Xinian’s vigilance was good, but now he was supposed to be recuperating. How could he rest well if he stayed so alert all the time?

”I’m used to it.”

Meng Xinian sat up a bit and responded indifferently.

Li Hanzhong had watched him grow up and knew the hardships he had faced over the years. Hearing these simple words, his heart couldn’t help but sour slightly.

He pulled up a chair and sat down beside the bed, observing Meng Xinian for a moment.
